Luxury vinyl: high design, low price

With luxury vinyl, you’ll never experience that awful feeling of longing for something that’s just beyond your budget.

Watertown Floor Coverings LLC has been around for 65 years, so we really know flooring, and we’re happy to pass that knowledge on to you. What’s more, our showroom in Waltham is fully stocked with inventory, so you’ll always find something to meet your needs. We service the Greater Boston area, including Burlington, Woburn, Boston, Watertown and, of course, Waltham.

Although luxury vinyl has many benefits, it answers one of the biggest customer concerns; that is, it’s impervious to water, In fact, it’s one of the few flooring types that is completely waterproof, so feel free to install it anywhere, including high-moisture rooms like the bathroom and below-grade areas, like the basement.

The luxury of a wood-look, the function of vinyl

You can get in planks to resemble the look of wood. These are called luxury vinyl planks, or LVP. Advanced technology makes the image incredibly detailed and realistic, and you can find many species in many colors, not to mention hand-scraped and distressed wood textures, to make it even more authentic.

Wide planks are trending this year, as are gray floors. No problem, because you can easily get them here.

Tile-sized pieces

Sometimes it’s cut into tile-sized pieces to resemble tile or stone like marble or slate. These are called luxury vinyl tile or LVT.

There’s a large assortment of colors, patterns and designs from which to choose, and you can mix, match and coordinate different “tiles” to express your own statement.

Other benefits include:

We’ve already established that it’s fashionable and waterproof, but there’s also the advantage of:

  • Price. It’s less expensive than wood or tile, but please don’t go for those ultra-inexpensive bargain brands. It will either be too thin, flimsy, or the photography might not be up to par.
  • Durability. It has a thick clear plastic wear layer that protects the image and resists scratches and fading. It’s so strong; it’s even used in commercial installations, where heavy foot traffic is guaranteed.
  • Easy to clean: Sweep and damp mop. For more thorough cleaning, use a manufacturer-approved detergent.Luxury vinyl is a little softer and more flexible than other hard surface flooring, but make sure yours has an underlayment for extra cushioning. Your flooring pro can tell you more.
